Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel

The Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel is the main university of the German State of Schleswig-Holstein with ~26,000 students and a scientific staff of >2,000 persons of which 400 are university professors. The two groups involved in the project are part of the Faculty of Engineering (Prof. Adelung, Institute of Materials Science, chair for “Functional Nanomaterials”) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Prof. Stock, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, chair of “Inorganic-Organic Hybrid Compounds”). The Adelung group includes 7 postdocs, 19 PhD students and a lab engineer. Research interests are in structural and functional micro- and nanomaterials including sensors. The Stock group includes 7 PhD students. The research focusses on the discovery and application of new porous compounds with high thermal and chemical stabilities for adsorption, catalysis and sensing.
