Masaya Sugihara was born and raised in Japan. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and Master’s degree from Keio University, Japan. His master’s thesis project was about ZnO-based dye-sensitized solar cells. Currently, he is enrolled in a joint doctorate program under the supervision of Prof. Rob Ameloot (KU Leuven) and Prof. Izabela Naydenova (TU Dublin), within the SENNET project. His research focuses on developing a metal-organic framework-based sensor array as an electronic nose for volatile organic compound detection. In his free time, he enjoys running, cooking, and reading books.
